Where Polymarket Perps can be traded
9 jurisdictions cannot place a Polymarket Perps order. That sentence is narrower than it first looks.
Short answer
Polymarket does not permit Perps order placement from United States, Canada, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, Donetsk or Luhansk. That is 9 jurisdictions, and Polymarket says the list can change.
The restriction attaches to placing an order, not to looking. Read-only market data is not subject to it, so somebody in a restricted jurisdiction can follow prices, funding and open interest in full — they simply cannot trade. A referral code does nothing about any of this: access and eligibility are two separate gates.
Which countries are restricted on Polymarket Perps
Polymarket restricts order placement from these jurisdictions.source
- United States
- Canada
- Cuba
- Iran
- North Korea
- Syria
- Crimea
- Donetsk
- Luhansk
Three of those entries are regions rather than national jurisdictions. Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk are sub-national, so a country dropdown does not resolve them. The list is finer-grained than the phrase “available countries” implies.
Polymarket attaches a warning to it: this list can change, and additional restrictions may apply under Polymarket notices or applicable law.source The 9 above are the floor, not the ceiling.
Orders, not reading
What Polymarket restricts is order placement. Read-only market data is not subject to these restrictions.source
That is not a loophole and it is not a hint. It is a description of where the line sits. The hourly funding data is public, the market catalogue is public, and the calculators here run entirely in your browser off published formulas. None of that is order placement.
The public read endpoints are unauthenticated — instruments, tickers, order books, candles, trades and funding history all answer without a key.source
The code gate came off. This one did not.
Perps is open, and the invite code that gated early access is no longer required.source Jurisdiction is an entirely separate condition. People conflate them constantly, usually in the hopeful direction.
| Your situation | Read the markets | Place an order |
|---|---|---|
| Code, and outside the restricted list | Yes | Yes |
| Code, but inside a restricted jurisdiction | Yes | No |
| No code, outside the restricted list | Yes | No — not until you have a code |
| No code, inside a restricted jurisdiction | Yes | No, for two separate reasons |
A code is an attribution string and an early-access key. It decides who gets credited for your trading fees and whether the product opens for you at all; it says nothing about where you are and confers no eligibility.source If somebody offers you a code on the basis that it solves a geographic problem, they are either confused or lying. What a code does now is its own page.
What builders must do
If you are integrating Perps rather than trading it, the documentation gives you three obligations.source
- Verify the end user’s location before placing orders.
- Block order submission entirely for users in any listed jurisdiction.
- Apply the same verification to programmatic strategies that result in a new position.
The third obligation is not about a user sitting in front of a screen. Anything that ends in a new position counts: a bot, a scheduled hedge, a copy-trading follower, an agent acting on a signal. If the flow can open exposure, the same location check applies as to a human clicking buy.
Can you trade Polymarket Perps in the US?
Polymarket does not permit Perps order placement from the United States.source
If you follow Polymarket at all, you will already have views about what US access to its event markets looks like. Park them. Perps is a different product with its own documentation. A perpetual future is leveraged, has no expiry, and can be liquidated; an event contract resolves to a fixed payout.source Different instruments, and in regulatory terms different questions — what is true of one in a given country tells you nothing about the other, in either direction. The comparison with Kalshi is where that distinction gets drawn.
No workarounds
Attempting one is a good way to lose access to your money. Collateral does not sit in your wallet while a position is open — it sits inside an account, on a venue, subject to that venue’s rules. An account that turns out to be ineligible is the worst possible container for funds, and unwinding one is not a support ticket you want to be writing while a leveraged position is running.
The restriction is worth understanding precisely. It is not worth defeating.
If you are in a restricted jurisdiction
You are not locked out of understanding this market, only out of trading it.
- Watch the data. All 39 listed markets publish price, open interest and funding through public endpoints, and the market table here reads them directly.
- Model positions properly. The liquidation calculator uses Polymarket’s own margin methodology rather than a generic exchange formula, and runs in your browser.
- Follow funding. Settling every hour rather than every eight makes Polymarket an unusual funding series to watch, whether or not you can take a side of it.

Questions people ask
Can you trade Polymarket Perps in the US?
No. Polymarket does not permit Perps order placement from the United States. Reading market data is a separate matter and is not restricted, so a US reader can follow prices, funding rates and open interest — they just cannot submit an order.
Which countries are restricted on Polymarket Perps?
Polymarket lists 9 jurisdictions where order placement is not permitted: United States, Canada, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk. Polymarket also says this list can change and that additional restrictions may apply under its own notices or applicable law.
Does a Polymarket Perps referral code get around the country restriction?
No. They are two independent gates. An invite or referral code is what gets you into an early-access product; jurisdiction governs whether an order may be submitted at all. Holding a code does not make you eligible, and no code changes the restricted list.
Can you see Polymarket Perps prices and funding from a restricted country?
Yes. Read-only market data is not subject to the geographic restrictions, and the public Perps read endpoints are unauthenticated. Watching the markets, checking funding and modelling a position are all unrestricted; placing the order is the part that is not.
What are developers required to do about geographic restrictions?
Three things: verify the end user's location before placing orders, block order submission entirely for users in any listed jurisdiction rather than merely warning them, and apply the same check to programmatic strategies that create new positions. A displayed warning is not a block.
Is the restricted list permanent?
No. Polymarket's own documentation says the list can change and that additional restrictions may apply under Polymarket notices or applicable law.
Are Polymarket Perps and Polymarket prediction markets restricted the same way?
They are separate products with separate documentation. Whatever is true of access to Polymarket's event contracts in a given country does not tell you what is true of Perps, in either direction.
